Dr Peter Dongas

Dr Peter Dongas is dual qualified and trained in both Medicine and Dentistry. He graduated in Dentistry in 1988 from The University of Adelaide, and has worked in public and private dental practices in Adelaide and rural Australia from 1989-1997. In 1991, Dr Peter Dongas obtained a primary fellowship from the Royal College of Dental Surgeons, and in 1992 commenced advanced training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Adelaide Dental Hospital and Royal Adelaide Hospital. In 1993, he completed the Basic Surgical Science Examinations. A year later, he was awarded a Graduate Diploma in Oral Surgery from the University of Adelaide. Dr Peter Dongas completed a Medical Degree with Honours in 2001 from the University of Tasmania. From 2002 he also continued to work as a Medical Doctor. In 2003 he obtained further advanced surgical skills working as a Senior Medical Doctor in Sydney's Westmead Hospital in Anaesthetics, Neurosurgery, ICU and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Dr Peter Dongas commenced his fellowship training in Medical General Practice and opened The Wisdom Teeth Clinic in 2004. In 2005, he continued further advanced training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Gold Coast Hospital and also obtained Emergency Management of Severe Trauma certification from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. In 2007, he completed his fellowship exams in General Practice and the following year opened his GP clinic on the same site as the Wisdom Teeth Clinic. This provided him with his unique position as a Surgical Dentist and a Medical GP, allowing him to manage and treat complex tooth removals on medically compromised patients. Dr Peter Dongas has been a clinical examiner for the Royal College of General Practitioners since 2021. He also obtained an Advanced Life Support (ALS1) certificate in 2021. Dr Peter Dongas has a special interest in Wisdom Teeth Removals/Tooth Removals and has been performing these procedures since 1992, with now over 30 years of Oral Surgery experience.
BDS 1988 Obtained a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Adelaide.
MBBS (Hons) 2001 Obtained a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (Honours) from the University of Tasmania.
GradDipClinDent 1994 Obtained a Graduate Diploma in Clinical Dentistry (Oral Surgery) from the University of Adelaide.
BMedSc 2000 Obtained a Bachelor of Medical Science from the University of Tasmania.
FRACGP 2007 Obtained a GP fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of General Practitioners.
